Oh my! On Wednesday evening, I saw the final dress rehearsal for Manhattan Christian Schools’ production of Peter and the Starcatcher.
An amazing performance. I’m coming back to watch it again - it was fantastic.
Yvonne Kimm directs a whimsical show in which the cast wears their roles like a pair of favorite jeans. Set sail to explore the Neverland you never knew with this Tony Award-winning prequel by Rick Elice, which charts a course through Peter’s untold adventures. Kimm directs the young actors in a play that is a humorous, heartwarming ride through ambition, yearning, and the magic of friendship, where you will discover the boy who never grew up before he took flight.
Perfectly cast in each role, the actors took me back to the story of Peter Pan. Based on the 2004 novel Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry (the sydnicated humor columnist) and Ridley Pearson, and adapted for the stage by Rick Elice, the play provides a backstory for the characters of Peter Pan, Mrs Darling, Tinker Bell, and Hook and serves as a prequel to J. M. Barrie's Peter and Wendy.
