Jeremy Yoakam completed a 13-year journey on Sunday when Boy Scout Troop 516 held its Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Livingston Christian Center in Livingston, and Yoakam had the Eagle Scout Badge pinned to his shirt by his father, Chad Yoakam.
The ceremony was held in front of Boy Scout Troop 516 members, former troop leaders, and close to 100 guests. Pastor Dale Fricke gave the Benediction, and Park High junior Peter Currie was the Master of the Ceremony.
To be eligible for the Eagle Scout award, candidates must earn at least 21 merit badges, 14 of which are mandatory. The Eagle Scout must also demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based on the Scout Oath and Law, as well as service and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes their accomplishments.
